Notary Services From Abroad
Many of our clients are not in Istanbul when they contact us. Some of what they need can be done remotely, and some cannot. Knowing which is which before you plan a trip saves a lot of time and money.
What can be done remotely
- Getting started. You can reach us through the website, by email or on WhatsApp, tell us what you need, and we will confirm the route before you commit to anything.
- E-apostille for qualifying documents. Documents that qualify can go through our remote E-Apostille service without a visit. Read how it works in E-Apostille in Turkey.
- Planning the steps. We can tell you whether your document needs an apostille or legalization, and whether it also needs translation and notarization, before you do anything.
What has to be done in person
Powers of attorney, affidavits and consent letters are signed by the person making them, in front of the notary. They are not available online. Visits are by appointment only, so book first and plan your travel around the confirmed time. See Notary Appointment in Istanbul for how to book and what to bring.
If you can’t travel
If you can’t come to Istanbul, there may be other ways to arrange a power of attorney, such as through a consulate in your own country. We explain the options in Power of Attorney in Turkey for Foreigners. For affidavits and consent letters, check with the receiving office whether a signing abroad is acceptable.
How to start
- Tell us what the document is and which country or office it is for.
- Tell us what you already have, such as a draft from the receiving office, a tax number or a residence permit. If you need a tax number, we take care of it. See Tax Number in Turkey for Foreigners.
- Ask us about courier delivery if you need documents sent to you after they are ready.
Mistakes that cost time
- Assuming everything can be done remotely. Powers of attorney, affidavits and consent letters need the signer to attend.
- Booking a flight before confirming an appointment. Visits are by appointment only, so agree on a time with us first.
- Choosing the electronic route without asking the receiving office. Some offices still want paper.
- Not checking the destination. The country decides whether you need an apostille or legalization.
- Leaving it to the last week. Several steps happen in different places, so give yourself time.
